Israel mourns the deaths at Lag B’Omer festival

Authorities are trying to identify at least 45 people killed – with more than 100 others injured – in a stampede at a religious festival in northern Israel. The Lag B’Omer festival, celebrating the life of a second century Rabbi, is one of the holiest festivals in the Jewish calendar. The chaotic scenes were captured on social media – showing thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews – trying to escape the crush.
