A man has been stabbed multiple times in the street during a robbery.
A man has been stabbed during a robbery on the south coast of New South Wales.
Police said the 53-year-old man was walking with his female partner through the Wollongong CBD when another man approached them in Atchison Street, just before 11.30pm on Friday.
A scuffle ensued between the two men, in which the man was stabbed multiple times. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
The offender then grabbed the victim’s mobile phone and ran off towards Burelli Street.
Emergency services were called and the man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Wollongong hospital for treatment.
Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and are investigating.
Police are looking to talk to a man described as caucasian in appearance, aged in his early 20s, wearing a black cap, black jumper and black tracksuit pants.
Anyone who might have witnessed the incident or saw a man matching his description in the Wollongong CBD and has dashcam footage is asked to come forward.
