The US ‘should have acted much sooner’ to send aid to India

The New Republic’s Alex Shephard says the United States “should have acted much sooner” to help India as it is in the midst of a COVID crisis. “We’ve seen a big sea change over the last week the United States announced last weekend we’d be sending 60 million AstraZeneca doses to India that I believe is on its way now, on Tuesday we will have the first travel back of the Biden administration that’ll ban virtually all travel between India and the United States,” he told Sky News. Mr Shephard said “this is another area” the Biden administration has not done well with and said the US has ample vaccines to donate to the COVID ravaged country. “The United States is sitting on a massive stockpile of vaccine, we’re already seeing demand drop in this country because so many people have been vaccinated but there’s been an unwillingness to start to send that out.”
